Content Area Standards
The Hawaiʻi Teacher Standards Board (HTSB) has approved for use and reference the content area standards that all teacher licensure applicants must meet for their designated teaching field. These standards are adopted from nationally recognized professional organizations and outline the skills, knowledge, and ethical practices expected of Hawaiʻi educators in each subject area, such as Mathematics, Science, English, and Career and Technical Education.
Applicants should review and reference the HTSB-approved content area standards specific to their licensure field to demonstrate proficiency and align their instructional practices accordingly.
Disclosure: It is the sole responsibility of each applicant to ensure that the content area standards used for their application are the most current and officially approved by the HTSB as they apply to their teaching field. Standards and requirements are subject to change, and applicants should routinely confirm that they are referencing the latest versions.
