Candidate Support

The HTSB National Board Collective provides candidate support for educators pursuing National Board Certification through the collective, enabling candidates to access expert guidance and mentorship from local NBCTs.

Additionally, HTSB currently supports the Waiʻanae Coast National Board Project in partnership with The Institute for Native Pacific Education and Culture (INPEACE). To increase the number of accomplished teachers on the coast, INPEACE provides financial support to teachers who have demonstrated a commitment to staying in the Waiʻanae Nānākuli complex to work on their National Board entries.

For more information on candidate support and connecting with INPEACE, please contact HTSB Licensing Specialist Tracey Idica, NBCT [email protected]

National Board Fee Reimbursement

If you wish to request funding or reimbursement from a third-party (external organization), you must select “Yes” for Release Question 1 in your NBPTS account: “Do you authorize the National Board to release this information to third-party organizations?” This authorization allows funding agencies to verify your candidacy information, including your application status (registration fee payment, amount, and date), certification details (certificate and specialty area, start and end cycles, completed and remaining retake attempts), component purchase details (component fee payment, amount, date, and submission status), and certification status (issue and expiration dates). No assessment scores will be released.

Teachers who have completed the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) process and received scores for all four components are eligible for reimbursement of the initial cost of each component. Those who achieved certification are eligible for $1,900 reimbursement. Those who have not yet achieved certification are eligible for a $1,500 reimbursement, with the remaining $400 reimbursed upon certification. NOTE: Scholarships received for National Board fees are not eligible for reimbursement.
