License Renewal
Emergency Hire Permits and Provisional Licenses are non-renewable. Applicants must wait until their current Emergency Hire Permit or Provisional License expires, and may apply for a new one beginning July 1st.
Please note, Hawaiʻi does not have a fee for teacher licensing. In 2019, Act 116 was signed into law stating all licensing, applications, and renewals for Hawaiʻi public school teachers, librarians, and counselors are covered by state funding.
For the required renewal forms, see the HTSB Forms page. Guides for License Renewal are outlined below:

Renewal Audit
Teachers may be selected for a random audit up to one year from the date they renew their license. For example, if a teacher renewed their license on or before July 1, 2023, they are eligible for an audit through June 30, 2024. If selected, the teacher will be notified by an official letter from one of HTSB’s Licensing Specialists.
