Hawaiʻi SATEP

Hawaiʻi State Approved Teacher Education Programs

A Hawaiʻi State Approved Teacher Education Program (SATEP) is an HTSB-approved program based on the Hawaii Revised Statutes, Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR), and board policies.

In Hawaiʻi, the 14 SATEPs are designed to:

  • prepare and educate teacher candidates in basic skills, content knowledge in specific teaching field and grade level through its implementation of their board-approved program;
  • provide a quality clinical experience;
  • maintain national program accreditation; and
  • abide by federal policies and state-level policies, and
  • participate in the Teacher Education Coordinating Committee.

To access institution‑specific information, select the Hawaiʻi SATEP option and click the “+” icon in the left sub‑navigation panel. This will reveal each institution’s contact details, preparation pathways, approved licensure fields and grade spans, and accreditation status.
